Afton and Sidney are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Knights will head out to take on the Team at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Afton was able to grind out a solid win over Unatego, taking the game 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sidney). They were the clear victors by a 24-8 margin over Dryden on Saturday. The Team might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 15 runs or more this season.
Sam Constable was a standout: she got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Russo, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with six runs, two RBI, and one double.
Sidney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Afton's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Sidney, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
