Basketball Game Preview: Lamar Texans vs. Seven Lakes Spartans

The Lamar Texans will take on the Seven Lakes Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lamar comes in on three and Seven Lakes on 17.

Lamar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Cypress Creek by a score of 68-59. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Texans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Cougars are ranked 158th).

Meanwhile, Seven Lakes blew past Alief Elsik, posting an 83-43 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 20 points or more this season.

Seven Lakes' victory bumped their record up to 31-5. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 18-15.

Lamar lost to Seven Lakes on the road by a decisive 63-46 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Lamar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
