Basketball Recap: Vashahd Schofield's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andrew Jackson Academy over Bethesda Academy

Andrew Jackson Academy was the 74-53 winner over Bethesda Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors fell 65-55 to the Bethesda Academy Blazers on Tuesday. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Andrew Jackson Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Vashahd Schofield, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. Schofield has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Gage Dicks was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Israel Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bethesda Academy, going 6 of 15 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wright has scored at least a third of Bethesda Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Franky Jackson, who had six points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Andrew Jackson Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Bethesda Academy, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6.

Andrew Jackson Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-69 victory against Cross on the 10th. As for Bethesda Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-25 defeat against Hilton Head Prep on the 8th.
