Softball Recap: Steele Takes a Loss

Steele blew Elyria out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Elyria got their revenge. The Comets fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Comets have suffered since April 29, 2025.

Karina Shuster spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

Steele's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Elyria, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Steele will face off against Avon at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Comets are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Elyria, they are taking a road trip to take on Midview at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
