Softball Preview: Hubbard Eagles vs. Salem Quakers

The Hubbard Eagles will face off against the Salem Quakers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hubbard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Hubbard got the win against Struthers by a conclusive 14-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Haleigh Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lauren Komorek was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Songer, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Salem came up short against West Branch on Thursday and fell 11-7.

Hubbard's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
