Softball Recap: IC Catholic Prep Has No Trouble Against Saint Ignatius College Prep

IC Catholic Prep lost to Saint Ignatius College Prep on Wednesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Knights put the hurt on the Wolfpack with a sharp 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Madelynn Dinino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, IC Catholic Prep let Sofia Bucaro and Kelly Cahill run wild. Bucaro went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Cahill went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Bucaro has posted over her last 12 games. Lexi Hoffman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: IC Catholic Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

IC Catholic Prep pushed their record up to 15-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season.

IC Catholic Prep will take on St. Bede at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, they will challenge Montini Catholic at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
