Baseball Game Preview: Hershey Trojans vs. Carlisle Thundering Herd

The Hershey Trojans will venture away from home to square off against the Carlisle Thundering Herd at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hershey's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Carlisle's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hershey fell victim to Red Land and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Hershey got a good showing from Colton Fultz, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Fultz has become a key player for the Trojans: the team is 7-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Carlisle came out on top against Lebanon on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Thundering Herd blew past the Cedars 13-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Thundering Herd as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Bryce Hockley looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Curtis Stroud was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Ream, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Hershey's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Carlisle, their record now sits at 5-12.

Hershey came out on top in a nail-biter against Carlisle when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
