Football Game Preview: Monrovia Wildcats vs. Hillcrest Trojans + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in BYRON BELL and Reyez Ortiz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Monrovia Wildcats will take on the Hillcrest Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Monrovia's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Temple City 44-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wildcats just coasted through the last quarter.

DASHAWN SIEBER went supernova, rushing for 82 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries.

Monrovia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Patrick Williams was the real danger to the passing game, picking up three interceptions all by himself. He was another major factor on D, making four total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging three interceptions.

Hillcrest never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Valley View on Thursday. They blew past the Eagles 41-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-7.

Monrovia better keep an eye on Matthew Ramos. He was instrumental in Hillcrest's win, throwing for 192 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 114 yards and one TD on only ten carries. That's the most passing yards Ramos has posted since back in October of 2024. Nicholas Shaw was in the mix as well, providing Hillcrest with two scores.

The victory made it two in a row for Monrovia and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 36 points. As for Hillcrest, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Monrovia has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hillcrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 186.1 rushing yards.
