Football Recap: Oak Hall Eagles vs. Trenton Tigers

After flying high against P.K. Yonge last Thursday, Oak Hall came back down to earth. The matchup between the Eagles and the Trenton Tigers didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 42-26. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Aaron Akins and Darius Medley certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Akins threw for 253 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes, while Medley picked up 121 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Medley got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 64 yards.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Wyatt Vanlandingham and Alexzander Henry. Vanlandingham rushed for 217 yards and four scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry while Henry rushed for 162 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Vanlandingham a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Oak Hall fell to 5-1. As for Trenton, their record is now an identical 5-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oak Hall will take on Old Plank Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Trenton, they will face off against Branford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
