Basketball Recap: Kyleigh Purtle's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Trinity Christian over Legacy Academy

Trinity Christian fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Legacy Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Legacy Academy Warriors by a score of 46-44. Trinity Christian hasn't had much luck with Legacy Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Trinity Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kyleigh Purtle, who posted 16 points. Jordan Dougan was another key player, putting up 11 points.

It was another big night for Oaklee Lofton, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 14 rebounds for Legacy Academy. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Lofton has scored at least a third of Legacy Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Vivian Garner, who had no points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Trinity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Legacy Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.

Trinity Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Christian Ministries Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Legacy Academy, they will face off against Pulaski County HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
