Basketball Recap: Council Rock South Gets the Win

Council Rock South hadn't done well against Bensalem recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Council Rock South Golden Hawks secured a 53-49 W over the Bensalem Fighting Owls. This was payback for the Golden Hawks, who suffered a 64-49 defeat the last time these two teams met.

When it comes to explaining why Bensalem lost, don't look at Amir Drummond. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points in addition to five assists and five boards. That was a full 34.7% of Bensalem's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Mayfield, who put up 12 points.

The win made it two in a row for Council Rock South and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Bensalem, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Council Rock South is taking a road trip to face off against Pennsbury at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bensalem, they will host Neshaminy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bensalem is facing Neshaminy at the right time seeing as Neshaminy is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
