Baseball Game Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Hurricane Tigers

For the second straight game, Dixie will face off against Hurricane. The Flyers will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dixie has five straight victories, Hurricane has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Dixie beats Hurricane with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Flyers beat the Tigers on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-2. Considering the Flyers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Weston Gilmore was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Dixie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Carter Turley was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

Dixie pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hurricane, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
