Softball Game Preview: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Whitehouse Wildcats

For the second straight game, Lovejoy will face off against Whitehouse. The Leopards will welcome the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lovejoy 3.7, Whitehouse 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lovejoy heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Whitehouse by a score of 5-4.

For Whitehouse's part, Taylor Morris spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, Morris is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Analee Becerra was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kyndal Morris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Whitehouse lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.

Lovejoy's loss dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Whitehouse, their victory bumped their record up to 20-9.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Lovejoy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Whitehouse struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs.
