Softball Recap: Mayfield's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Mayfield dropped their record down to 12-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They lost 8-0 to the Centennial Hawks. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

As for Centennial, their victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. Considering they have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Centennial's part, Destiny Perez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Perez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Aaliyah Betancourt was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Milam, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Centennial beat Mayfield by a score of 13-3 later that day.
