Baseball Recap: Giles Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grayson County, Giles was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Narrows Green Waves. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-13 two weeks ago.

Miles Eppling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Giles is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Giles let Colton Moye and Josiah Schlueter run wild. Moye went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Schlueter went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Schlueter is becoming a predictor of Giles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Mills, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Giles' record is now 7-10. As for Narrows, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Giles will challenge Radford at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Narrows, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parry McCluer at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
