Basketball Game Preview: Avon Grove Red Devils vs. Downingtown West Whippets

Avon Grove hasn't had much luck against Downingtown West recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Avon Grove Red Devils will take on the Downingtown West Whippets at 6:45 p.m.

On Saturday, Avon Grove lost to Sun Valley at home by a 64-47 margin. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 499th, while the Vanguards are ranked 178th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Downingtown West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past East 65-41 on Thursday. The Whippets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Downingtown West has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Avon Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Avon Grove might still be hurting after the 77-51 loss they got from Downingtown West in their previous matchup back in January. Can Avon Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
