Basketball Recap: Steamboat Springs Comes Up Short

Steamboat Springs was the 50-41 winner over Palisade when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Sailors lost 48-22 to the Bulldogs on Friday.

Brooke Butas was Steamboat Springs' leading scorer, having posted seven points. Butas also led the team in rebounds with nine. Emily Gallagher took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Mady Bavor was nothing short of spectacular for Palisade: she went 9-for-15 en route to 21 points and four steals. Those 21 points gave Bavor a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlie Rhoden, who posted nine points.

Steamboat Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Palisade, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Steamboat Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 30-9 victory against Basalt on the 6th. As for Palisade, they have also already played their next game, a 67-42 loss against Roaring Fork on the 6th.
