Softball Game Preview: Becker Bulldogs vs. Monticello Magic

The Becker Bulldogs will take on the Monticello Magic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Becker has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Becker turned things around against St. Anthony Village on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Huskies 7-5.

Meanwhile, Monticello got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over Princeton. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Magic as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak.

Josi Ordorff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Monticello let Taylor Marcus and Kiana Pegues run wild. Marcus went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run, while Pegues got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Pegues a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaedynn Ordorff, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Becker, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Becker skirted past Monticello 3-1 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Magic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
