Softball Recap: Morristown Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Morristown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Edinburgh Lancers on Friday as they made off with a 10-4 victory. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Abby Hawk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sawyer Rogers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Avery Everhart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Morristown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edinburgh only posted a batting average of .286.

Morristown's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Edinburgh, they dropped their record down to 8-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Morristown will head out to take on Tri at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Yellow Jackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Edinburgh, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
