Basketball Preview: Oak Hills Highlanders vs. La Salle Lancers
Oak Hills is 1-7 against the Lancers since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Oak Hills Highlanders will head out on the road to challenge the La Salle Lancers at 7:30 p.m. Oak Hills will be strutting in after a victory while the Lancers will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Oak Hills beat the Indians 52-47.
It was another big night for Nate Riep, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Henry Maginn, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but La Salle had to settle for a 49-47 defeat against the Bombers on Friday. While losing is never fun, La Salle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Bombers are ranked 33rd).
Oak Hills has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for La Salle, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Oak Hills came up short against the Lancers in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 64-58. Can Oak Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
