Football Game Preview: Geneva Knights vs. Trinity Prep Saints

The Geneva Knights will head out to square off against the Trinity Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneva is looking for their season's first win.

On Thursday, Geneva and Windermere Prep were almost perfectly matched up, but Geneva suffered a 7-6 loss. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Geneva's defeat came about despite a quality game from Luke Gilmartin, who rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Geneva's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Braddock Carpenter and Duke Carpenter, who racked up four sacks between them. Duke is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Trinity Prep played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 37-12 to Cornerstone Charter Academy. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Ducks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Trinity Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josh Shaw rushed for 127 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Shaw's longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Trinity Prep now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Geneva, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
