Softball Game Preview: Cholla Chargers vs. Maricopa Rams

The Cholla Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Maricopa Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Cholla lost 19-1 to Tanque Verde on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Maricopa made sure to put some runs up on the board against McClintock on Tuesday. The Rams put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 10-3 win.

Lizzie DeuPree made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). DeuPree was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Maricopa let Sophia Flores and Deanna Ramirez DeLa Rosa run wild. Flores went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Ramirez DeLa Rosa went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Bailey Amos was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Maricopa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McClintock only posted an OBP of .345.

Cholla suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Maricopa in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
