Softball Game Preview: Loogootee Lions vs. North Daviess Cougars

The Loogootee Lions will venture away from home to take on the North Daviess Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Loogootee lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Washington, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. Loogootee put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 23-13 victory on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their one-run performance the game before.

Breanna Courter was a standout: she scored four runs and stole six bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Brianna Eckerle, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI.

Courter wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Loogootee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They got six more hits than Washington's also-impressive total of 12.

Meanwhile, North Daviess came out on top against St. George's on Saturday by a score of 6-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

North Daviess now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Loogootee, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Loogootee beat North Daviess 6-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loogootee since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
