Baseball Recap: St. James' Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

St. James's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Hermann Bearcats. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their 14-game losing streak.

Trevor Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Cooper Schacht was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JV Meurer, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

St. James picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-15. As for Hermann, their loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

Looking ahead, St. James will be playing in front of their home fans against Waynesville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hermann, they will take on New Haven on Monday.
