Basketball Recap: Ashley Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mt. Pleasant over Lewis County

It was a proper cat-fight when Mt. Pleasant duked it out with Lewis County on Tuesday. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers came up short against the Lewis County Panthers, falling 51-31. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashley Turner, who posted ten points. The dominant performance also gave Turner a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Another player making a difference was Sadie Sandrell, who had eight points and five rebounds.

Lewis County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jazalyn Conner, who put up eight points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Conner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last five games she's played. Jayden Moore was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Lewis County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14.

Mt. Pleasant wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-12 defeat against Cascade on the 13th. As for Lewis County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-19 loss against Summertown on the 13th.
