Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

St. Mary and ALA - Queen Creek squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but St. Mary's had to settle for second. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 3-0. The Knights have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-10, 25-14.

Elana Clark paced St. Mary's offense, picking up eight kills. Clark got some help from Layla Santa Cruz De La Cruz and her ten assists. Nellie Coover and Mylee McDowell kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

ALA - Queen Creek was led to victory by Miley Hakes and Mckenna Kehoe. Hakes had eight digs and four assists, while Kehoe had seven digs and two aces. What's more, Kehoe also posted a 66.7% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in October.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 19-11. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-8 record this season.

St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will square off against Saguaro at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
