Baseball Recap: Teutopolis Takes Down Duquoin in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Teutopolis rose to the challenge on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the DuQuoin Indians. That's more bragging rights for the Wooden Shoes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Teutopolis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for DuQuoin, they moved to 22-15 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Teutopolis will face off against Newman Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wooden Shoes surely won't give up without a fight. DuQuoin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
