Wiggins hasn't had much luck against Limon recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Badgers at 3:00 p.m. The last three games Wiggins has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Saturday, Wiggins didn't have quite enough to beat Liberty Common and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.
Marcus Steinbar and Alex Tarango were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. Throwing, Steinbar struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Tarango pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Steinbar went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Tarango got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Arath Carrazco made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Karter Roberts was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Limon fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Peyton on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10. The Badgers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Like Wiggins, Limon also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooks Scherrer. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Scherrer was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Brody Scherrer and Camdyn Tacha did some serious damage despite the final result: Brody went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Tacha got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Liam Yoder, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Wiggins now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Limon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wiggins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Limon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wiggins came up short against Limon when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 8-5. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
