Powhatan is 8-1 against Dinwiddie since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Powhatan Indians will host the Dinwiddie Generals at 7:30 p.m. Powhatan will be strutting in after a victory while Dinwiddie will be coming in after a loss.

Powhatan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Richmond City School of the Arts 83-22 on Thursday. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 364th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Dinwiddie came up short against Hopewell on Tuesday and fell 55-43. While the Generals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Blue Devils 21-15 in the first quarter.

Powhatan will need focus on slowing down Madison Batts, one of several Dinwiddie players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Christiana Jones, who had nine points.

Powhatan's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6. As for Dinwiddie, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Powhatan didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dinwiddie in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 50-46 victory. Will Powhatan repeat their success, or does Dinwiddie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
