Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Academy Panthers vs. Somerset Academy Panthers

Franklin Academy is 0-4 against Somerset Academy since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Franklin Academy Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Franklin Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came up short against Highlands Christian on Friday, falling 89-68. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Emmanuel Toussaint, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 19 points and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Jacob Alicot was another key player, putting up 16 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Franklin Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, on WednesdayWest Broward kept up with Somerset Academy until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Somerset Academy put the hurt on West Broward with a sharp 83-60 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Somerset Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Franklin Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Franklin Academy was dealt a bruising 80-38 defeat at the hands of Somerset Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Franklin Academy, Johnathan Point Du Jour (who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
