Montgomery County has gone 8-2 against Wheeler County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Montgomery County Eagles will take on the Wheeler County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses for Montgomery County and seven for Wheeler County.

Last Tuesday, Montgomery County ended up a good deal behind Claxton and lost 38-23.

Meanwhile, Wheeler County played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Wilcox County, falling 64-31. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 487th, while the Patriots are ranked 136th).

Montgomery County will have to contain Nikita James as she made an impact in Wheeler County's last game. She went 10 for 19 en route to 26 points and five boards. That was a full 83.9% of Wheeler County's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Wheeler County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of nine games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Montgomery County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Wheeler County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Everything came up roses for Montgomery County against Wheeler County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 61-27 victory. Will Montgomery County repeat their success, or does Wheeler County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
