Softball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Davis Darts

For the second straight game, Layton will face off against Davis. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Darts at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Layton fell victim to Davis and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Darts, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Darts: they've now lost six in a row.

For Davis' part, Cambell Christensen and Ella Nielson did most of the damage at the plate: Christensen went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Nielson went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Nielson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Jaques, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Davis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive games.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Davis, their victory bumped their record up to 13-1.
