Recap: Hough Huskies vs. Harding University Rams
The Hough Huskies had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They breezed by Harding University at home to the tune of 63-6. The result was nothing new for Hough, who have now won four games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Hough's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trey Blakeney, who threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Karmel Quick made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Hough's victory was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.0 points per game. As for Harding University, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Hough will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hopewell at 7:00 p.m. Hopewell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Hough is ranked sixth). Harding University is on the road again on Friday and play against West Mecklenburg at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
