Recap: DeMatha Stags vs. Oak Ridge Pioneers

It was a good run, but the DeMatha Stags unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak dating back to last season on Thursday. They took a 69-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Ridge. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points DeMatha has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why DeMatha lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malcolm Thomas. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with eight blocks and six rebounds. The match was Thomas' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Bowser, who scored five points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, DeMatha were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Ridge only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

Oak Ridge was led to victory by Jamier Jones and Jalen Reece. Jones dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Reece scored 21 points along with three steals. The game was Jones 's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cameron Simpson , who scored 14 points.

DeMatha's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Oak Ridge, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

DeMatha and St. John Bosco will face off at 8:30 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. John Bosco knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully DeMatha likes a good challenge. Oak Ridge and Christ the King will face off at 8:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Christ the King is ranked 26th in New York, while Oak Ridge is ranked 24th in Florida).
