Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Wayne Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Wayne extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They came up short against the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights, falling 14-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Generals of the 21-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Faith Couture was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Burton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Considering they have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Fort Wayne Bishop Luers' side, Kaylee Dennis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Dennis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers got a massive performance out of Addison Haney, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Haney has posted since back in April. Ali Hoffman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Fort Wayne Wayne didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-1 loss against Fort Wayne Snider on the 7th. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-7 victory against New Haven on the 6th.
