Suggested Video

Memphis East had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it 16. They came up short against the Whitehaven Tigers, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 back in March.

Memphis East saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Kmet, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another was Phoenix Battle, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

As for Whitehaven, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Whitehaven, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Whitehaven's side, Andrew Robinson and Jaylon Dodson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Robinson struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Dodson struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Whitehaven is 4-1-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise. At bat, Robinson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Dodson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Robinson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Whitehaven got a massive performance out of Dedrick Marshall, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Marshall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vondraka Steele, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Memphis East nor Whitehaven have any future games scheduled.
