While Iowa Park's victory against Vernon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Iowa Park sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over Vernon on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Lions since April 14, 2017.

The result came thanks to AJ Ramirez's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Iowa Park's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Mo Moreno, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Moreno also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another was Kane Decker, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Iowa Park and bumps their season record up to 11-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Vernon, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Iowa Park will venture away from home to face off against Graham at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Vernon, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Vernon Lions face off against Henrietta Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
