Softball Game Preview: East Hartford Hornets vs. Enfield Eagles

The East Hartford Hornets will challenge the Enfield Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Hartford is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Monday just wasn't the day for East Hartford's offense. They fell just short of East Catholic by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Hornets were not able to get on the board.

Izzy Brito spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up six Ks.

Meanwhile, Enfield posted their closest victory since April 24th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Windsor. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Hailey Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emily Lyver, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Enfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windsor only posted a batting average of .250.

Enfield's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for East Hartford, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.

East Hartford might still be hurting after the 30-0 defeat they got from Enfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
