Basketball Recap: Emerson Waldorf Falls Despite Big Games from Lawson Mentz and Samuel Trueblood

Emerson Waldorf lost against Carolina Friends back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Emerson Waldorf Gnomes took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carolina Friends Quakers.

Despite the loss, Emerson Waldorf had strong showings from Samuel Trueblood, who posted 16 points, and Lawson Mentz, who put up 12 points. Trueblood's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raul Alberto Soberon, who earned five points.

Emerson Waldorf's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Carolina Friends, they moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Emerson Waldorf and Bradford Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Emerson Waldorf is facing Bradford Academy at the right time seeing as Bradford Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Carolina Friends has already played their next game, a 67-37 loss against Thales Academy Apex on the 13th.
