Soccer Game Preview: Rudder vs. A&M Consolidated

Rudder is 0-8 against A&M Consolidated since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rudder Rangers will head out to challenge the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rudder will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Huntsville, who they had gone 0-3 against in their six prior meetings. Everything went Rudder's way against Huntsville on Friday as Rudder made off with a 5-1 victory. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Hornets are ranked 667th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rudder's offense was hitting Huntsville from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, A&M Consolidated had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Hornets a 5-0 shutout. Give the Tigers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Rudder has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four games. As for A&M Consolidated, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Rudder came up short against A&M Consolidated when the teams last played back in January, falling 3-1. Can Rudder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
