Baseball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Edinburg's Third in Last Four Outings

It was a proper cat-fight when Edinburg duked it out with Weslaco on Thursday. The Bobcats came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 6-2. The game was the first time the Bobcats have beaten the Panthers on their field since March 15, 2016.

The team relied heavily on Michael Cruz, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Edinburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Weslaco, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9-1 record this season.

Edinburg will challenge Edinburg North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Weslaco, they will take on Economedes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.92 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
