Softball Recap: High Point Academy Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While High Point Academy's win against Landrum wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 back in April.

Julie Raines spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, High Point Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyenne Howard, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

High Point Academy's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Landrum, they now also have a losing record of 9-10.

Coming up, High Point Academy will welcome Pelion at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. Landrum does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
