Basketball Recap: Mayde Creek Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jamal Chretien II and Christian Gibson

Mayde Creek was the 58-53 winner over Katy when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Mayde Creek Rams fell to the Katy Tigers 66-60. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Tigers are ranked 64th).

Despite the loss, Mayde Creek had strong showings from Christian Gibson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Jamal Chretien II, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points. Gibson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Edwin Cleveland was another key player, putting up seven points.

Mayde Creek is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-14. As for Katy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-6.

Mayde Creek will head out on the road to face off against Katy Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Katy, they will host Morton Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
