Basketball Game Preview: Sandburg Eagles vs. Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings

Sandburg is 2-8 against Homewood-Flossmoor since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Sandburg Eagles will challenge the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Sandburg took on Hoffman Estates on Monday. Sandburg fell 72-59 to Hoffman Estates. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Hawks are ranked 119th).

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Homewood-Flossmoor's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They received a blow as they fell 81-67 to Rich Township. While the Vikings didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raptors 17-11 in the first quarter.

Sandburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Homewood-Flossmoor, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-2.

Sandburg suffered a grim 80-56 defeat to Homewood-Flossmoor when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Sandburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
