Basketball Game Preview: Statesville Greyhounds vs. West Iredell Warriors

Statesville is on a six-game streak of home losses, West Iredell a 22-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Tuesday. The Statesville Greyhounds will host the West Iredell Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Statesville fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Foard on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 53-45 to the Tigers. While the Greyhounds didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 13-8 in the first quarter.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Symerria Harris, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniah Davidson, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, West Iredell played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 55-7 loss at the hands of East Lincoln. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Statesville's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for West Iredell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-19.

Everything came up roses for Statesville against West Iredell in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 63-22 victory. Will Statesville repeat their success, or does West Iredell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
