Lakin Mathews commands the offense for Jaguars win

Recap: Central Jaguars vs. Jay Royals

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gulf Breeze, the Central Jaguars were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 62-52 win over Jay. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Central considering their 15-point performance the matchup before.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lakin Mathews, who scored 24 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mathews has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Autumn Boutwell, who scored 24 points.

Jay's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Presley Hawthorne, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Gilbreath, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Jay, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.

Central will look to defend their home court on Monday against Navarre at 5:00 p.m. Jay's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gulf Breeze at 6:45 p.m. on January 30th. Gulf Breeze is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
