The Catonsville Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Perry Hall Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Catonsville has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Catonsville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Carver A&T on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 17-16. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Anna Godman made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nia Carrasco, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Perry Hall came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with a 16-4 win. That looming 16-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Gators yet this season.
Savannah Carl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Carl was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leana Vaisvil, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Perry Hall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Perry Hall's record is now 6-2. As for Catonsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Catonsville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Perry Hall struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Catonsville came up short against Perry Hall in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 8-3. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
