Basketball Game Preview: Wheeling Wildcats vs. Rolling Meadows Mustangs

Wheeling is 0-10 against Rolling Meadows since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Wheeling Wildcats will square off against the Rolling Meadows Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wheeling is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Elk Grove with a sharp 79-58 victory on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Rolling Meadows over Prospect in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Rolling Meadows blew Prospect out of the water with a 70-35 final score. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Wheeling's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Rolling Meadows, they are also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Wheeling was taken down by Rolling Meadows 63-28 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Wheeling avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
