Basketball Recap: Lamar Consolidated Gets the Win

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Lamar Consolidated ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They slipped by the Royal Falcons 64-63. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Lamar Consolidated's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cordel Bonney led the charge by going 9-for-15 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Bonney now owns an excellent 48.7% shooting accuracy. Ty'Riq Lane was another key player, shooting 43% from the field to rack up 16 points along with five assists and four steals.

The win got Lamar Consolidated back to even at 2-2. As for Royal, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Lamar Consolidated is taking a road trip to challenge Harmony School of Innovation Sugar Land at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Royal, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sweeny at 6:30 p.m.
