Softball Recap: Erie Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Erie had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North East Grape Pickers on Friday, sneaking past 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Royals have posted since May 1, 2024.

Hannah Nicklas was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aleah Warnshuis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Erie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Erie's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for North East, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erie will venture away from home to face off against Meadville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North East, they will challenge Girard at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
